Jacobean Chest

Linenfold carving was first utilized on 17th Century funriture to emulate delicate folded linen. As with many art forms, linenfold carving became re-imagined on door fronts, wall paneling and eventually made its way to the Continent. The three drawer Jacobean Chest is stunning in any room. Jim Howard recently used a pair similar to this chest to flank a doorway to a foyer hall with a pair of Venetian mirrors hanging above to create a dramatic entry. This chest is constructed of hand-planed and heavily-distressed Gmelina solids and veneers with hand-wrought drawer pulls.
